The “Restaurant Walliserstube”, is a small but cosy restaurant in the hart of Grächen, a tiny Swiss village located in the Kanton Wallis. The interior reminds you of typical Swiss folklore. The walls are decorated with antlers, everything has a wooden finish and in the centre of the room you have a hearth. Reaching the restaurant isn’t a walk in the park unfortunately. For the people who already live in the village there is no problem, but for the outsiders it’s a bit tricky because Grächen is lain halfway on a mountain. You can however take the bus at the bottom of the mountain and it will take you right up to the doorstep of the restaurant. But let’s talk about what’s truly important, the food. The restaurant offers a wide range of both conventional and non-conventional Swiss dishes, all of top quality. There are a few dishes I would recommend; first of all the “Gletcher Steak mit Kräuterbutter”, you can get this with either fries or croquettes. The plate looks appealing and I guarantee, the taste is just as wonderful. Next is the “Raclette”, I would recommend ordering this dish in the winter because you can see how the cheese is melted before your eyes, and when the snow covers the roof tops you get a warm pleasant feeling. The last dish I would like to recommend is the “Cordon Blue”. The tender meat is always perfectly cooked to the cuisine you ask. Hats off to the chef for this. The only comment I have is that the food does take a bit of time to be prepared. This however is more than compensated for by the lip-smacking aroma’s, yummy meat and delightful fries.
