We only had a little time in Fribourg, so the choice for food was limited to "fast and savory". Holy Cow! was a perfect choice; it's uncomplicated, inexpensive and has quite good or even excellent burgers, depending on your demands. The self-ordering system and the servers also cater for non-French speaking guests. The selection of drinks if fairly limited, as is the space for seating. A nice and satisfactory, if somewhat less than truly gourmet-ish eating experience.

I had dinner at the "Holy Cow" on Thursday, 22 June. The restaurant is pleasantly located close to the Easternmost tip of Rue de Lausanne, in central Fribourg. Tables are available both inside and outside, leaving you with a nice view of the street. On the menu, all sosrts of burgers may be found: beef, veggie and chicken, in addition to a range of signature salads. Of note, burgers are served either on their own or as part of a menu including French fries and a drink. A number of student deals are also on display. As I was very hungry, I opted for the menu section dedicated to the very hungry (literally, "Pour les gros appetits") and went for a Smokin' Holy Cowboy burger, including double beef, double cheddar cheese, bacon, cajun mayo, ketchup, BBQ sauce, caramelized onions and batavia salad. The beef was excellent, and overall the burger was very tasty and rewarding. With the burger only - I did not feel like having fries - and a 50 cl bottle of still water, the bill was CHF 23,80. Not exactly cheep, but Switzerland hardly ever is, from Southern European standards! Finally, I was delighted with the staff's kindness. I was served by Nadia, who was very nice and hospitable. Should I get back Fibourg, I definitely think that the "Holy Cow" would be my choice for a comforty meaty meal.
