We decided to go to our local auberge for my wife's birthday. We hadn't been for years and it used to be a fantastic place where the speciality was Chateaubriand steak cooked on the open fire served with chips and plenty of salad and vegetables a choix...When we arrived we were disappointed to see no fire and the atmosphere was decidedly sparse. The descriptions on the menu were mouthwatering but the reality fell far short of the mark (literally).: tiny portions with barely visible vegetables and massively overpriced - even by Swiss standards! 53 CHF for a steak the size of a potato served with a few minuscule slices of potato, onion and crumbs of lardon. Our request for chips was met with horror! My wife had the veal (two small slices) with one piece of endive and a sort of potato rissole the size of half a tennis ball for 49 CHF. The starters were 1 poached egg 19 CHF and 1 small slice of marinated salmon CHF23 . 1 glass of house wine, 1 Prosecco 11.20 CHF 2 beers 10 CHF and water. We decided to leave after the main course... the whole bill came to 170 CHF! I left hungry and frustrated for what supposed to be a birthday treat - never again for me! Staff was also non attentive forgot my butter with bread ,(it came later in a plastic tub - the type you get in a down market cafe) .Wine list was to expensive from 30 to 89 CHF for local plonk :-(

The Auberge has now been closed since autumn 2015. I hope that new management will improve the price and quality of the food. The setting is lovely when the fire is lit in the autumn winter time for the hunt season.
