This popular cafe has four locations in Basel. I visited their location on Feldbergstrasse, which is across the street from Matthauskirche. A constant flow of customers makes their way through theses doors. They have sidewalk tables on the shady tree lined side street. Inside, the place is not too small but not too large as well. The place can fill up very fast in the mornings as the local construction guys like to visit on their morning breaks. Just grab a seat at a free table and the wonderful staff will greet you and take your order. I had a lactose-free hot chocolate (4.80CHF) and a slice of rhubarb pie (5.20CHF), which was an amazingly fresh pie and it tasted excellent. They also have sandwiches, salads, breads, pastries, cookies, snacks, calzone, panini and more on the menu. I can’t say enough about the friendliness of the staff and how they welcomed me and even wished me a great day upon departing. They have newspapers, free secured Wi-Fi available for customers and clean restrooms. A future visit will certainly be in the works on my next visit to Basel. Highly recommended!
