Basel is a city full of very good food and good service, generally at a Switzerland-adjusted (which is to say, comparably high) price. We wanted something tasty but simple and not so expensive, and we found it at the as-yet not-much-reviewed "Sonne" on Rheingasse 25.Quieter than many of the other modest places along this strip (we didn't want noise, like the music or sports TV turned up loud at other places - there is a sports TV inside but it wasn't on loud; if the place filled up I guess it would get noisy too simply because it's fairly large), with a relatively broad menu, and with conspicuously friendly service (despite that our three languages didn't overlap with the staff's at least two) we left stuffed and still with left-overs very neatly wrapped for us by the restaurant - Tyrolean dumplings with speck and egg, and Spaghetti bolognese, and a tasty couple of local beers.
